Virtual Recovery Coaching

Recovery Support, Wherever You Call Home

Ontario · New Brunswick · Nova Scotia · Prince Edward Island · Newfoundland and Labrador

Finding your way into recovery can be challenging. Finding the right support while you wait for treatment, or figuring out what comes next when treatment ends, can be just as difficult.

At Colmer Recovery, we believe that people deserve access to meaningful recovery support, regardless of where they live. That's why we offer Virtual Recovery Coaching to individuals throughout Ontario and Atlantic Canada, including New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador.

Whether you are waiting for a treatment bed, preparing to leave a treatment facility, returning home, moving to a new community, or simply trying to figure out your next steps, you don't have to navigate the journey alone.

Virtual recovery coaching gives you the opportunity to work one-on-one with a recovery coach from the comfort and privacy of your own home. Through regular conversations, practical planning, and ongoing support, we work together to help you build a recovery plan that reflects who you are, what matters to you, and the life you want to create.

You don't have to have everything figured out to get started. You just have to be willing to take the next step.

What Is Virtual Recovery Coaching?

Virtual recovery coaching is a one-on-one service that helps you identify what you want your recovery to look like and develop a practical plan to move toward it.

Recovery is personal. What works for one person may not work for another. Your beliefs, values, circumstances, interests, relationships, and goals all play a role in shaping a recovery plan that makes sense for you.

As your recovery coach, my role is to walk alongside you, help you recognize your strengths, explore your options, set meaningful goals, and work through the challenges that can make change difficult.

We focus on what you can do today, what you want to work toward tomorrow, and how the decisions you make along the way can help you build a healthier, more meaningful life.

Sessions take place virtually, making recovery coaching accessible without the need to travel to an office or find someone nearby who offers this type of support.

Who Can Benefit From Virtual Recovery Coaching?

You don't have to be at a particular stage of recovery to benefit from coaching. You may be:

  • Waiting to enter treatment. You have made the decision to seek help, but you are waiting for an available bed and want support navigating the time in between.
  • Preparing to leave treatment. You want to make the most of your progress and develop a plan for returning home and continuing your recovery.
  • Recently discharged from treatment. You are facing new responsibilities, unfamiliar challenges, and decisions about what your life will look like moving forward.
  • Starting over in a new community. You need to build connections, establish routines, and find resources that support your recovery.
  • Looking for a recovery approach that fits you. You want to explore your options and create a plan based on your own needs, values, and goals.
  • Looking for ongoing support and accountability. You know what you want to work on but would benefit from having someone walk alongside you as you put your plan into action.

You do not need to have all the answers before reaching out. Sometimes the first step is simply having a conversation with someone who will listen without judgment.

How Does Virtual Recovery Coaching Work?

Recovery coaching is a collaborative process. You bring your experiences, your concerns, your hopes, and your willingness to explore what comes next. Together, we work toward a plan that feels realistic and meaningful to you.

  1. 1. Start With a Conversation

We begin by getting to know each other and discussing where you are today. What is going well? What is difficult? What concerns you most? What would you like to be different?

There is no expectation that you have everything figured out. This is an opportunity to talk openly about what is happening in your life and what kind of support might be helpful.

  2. 2. Identify Your Goals

Once we have a better understanding of your circumstances, we explore what you want to work toward.

Your goals might involve building a daily routine, finding recovery-supportive connections, improving relationships, exploring employment or education, developing healthy habits, or preparing for life after treatment.

Your goals are yours. My role is to help you clarify them and break them into manageable steps.

  3. 3. Create Your Personal Recovery Plan

Together, we develop a self-directed plan based on your needs, preferences, and circumstances.

This may include exploring community resources, considering recovery support groups or other programs, identifying people who can support you, developing healthy routines, and deciding what practical steps you want to take.

You are not expected to follow a prescribed formula. We explore what is available, what feels right for you, and what you are prepared to put into practice.

  4. 4. Put Your Plan Into Action

Having a plan is important, but putting it into practice is where progress happens.

Between sessions, you work on the steps you have chosen. At our next meeting, we discuss what worked, what was difficult, what you learned, and whether anything needs to change.

There is no need to pretend everything went perfectly. Challenges are part of the process, and they can help us understand what needs to be adjusted.

  5. 5. Build Momentum Through Gentle Accountability

Sometimes we know what we need to do but struggle to follow through. Life gets busy, motivation changes, and unexpected challenges arise.

Recovery coaching provides a regular opportunity to check in on your goals, acknowledge progress, discuss setbacks without judgment, and decide on your next steps.

This is not about being told what to do or being made to feel guilty when things don't go according to plan. It is about helping you stay connected to what matters to you and supporting you as you continue moving forward.

What Can I Expect During a Session?

A virtual recovery coaching session is a conversation, not a lecture, an assessment you need to pass, or a test of your commitment to recovery.

We begin by checking in on how you are doing and discussing anything important that has happened since we last spoke. From there, we focus on what matters most to you that day.

You might want to discuss a challenge you are facing, work through a decision, explore a new opportunity, or review the steps you have taken toward a goal.

I will listen, ask questions, help you explore your options, and support you in identifying practical next steps. You decide what you want to work on and which actions you are ready to take.

We will also make time to recognize the progress you are making. Recovery is not only about addressing difficulties. It is also about discovering your strengths, building confidence, and creating a life you genuinely want to live.

Sessions are collaborative, respectful, and focused on your individual needs.

Recovery Is About More Than Stopping

For many people, the decision to seek recovery begins with wanting to stop doing something that is causing harm. But as recovery develops, other questions often emerge.

What do I want my life to look like? How do I spend my time? Who do I want around me? What gives me a sense of purpose? How do I build a life that I want to protect and continue developing?

These are important questions, and they deserve attention.

At Colmer Recovery, we believe recovery can be an opportunity to discover new possibilities, reconnect with what matters, and build a meaningful life that reflects your values and aspirations.

Your plan may include a 12-step fellowship, other recovery communities, personal development, spiritual practices, healthy activities, professional support, or a combination of approaches that work for you. The important thing is that your plan is informed by your needs and choices.

There is no single path that everyone must follow.

Recovery Coaching Is Part of Your Support System

Recovery coaching does not replace addiction treatment, medical care, counselling, psychotherapy, or other professional services. It is intended to complement appropriate care by providing practical, ongoing support as you work toward your recovery goals.

If you are waiting for treatment, coaching may help you prepare and identify appropriate supports while you wait. If you are leaving treatment, it may help you put an aftercare plan into action and navigate the transition back into everyday life.

When additional or specialized support is needed, we can explore appropriate resources and connections as part of your overall support plan.

Start Where You Are

You don't need to wait until you reach a crisis, enter treatment, or have a perfect plan before asking for support.

Whether you are taking your first steps toward recovery or working to maintain the progress you have already made, Colmer Recovery is here to help you explore your options and move forward at a pace that makes sense for you.

Your recovery. Your goals. Your plan. Support along the way.
